Under a Gibbous Moon

How to start a flame war

by James on Feb.01, 2010, under Computers

CNet asked 32 experts to weight in on whether they thought the Mac or Windows was a more secure operatingsystem. This is the most obvious set up for a flame war that I have ever seen in my entire life. Despite the general consensus among the experts (neither is very secure), there are currently 244 ire riddled comments.

Most are humorously uninformed or outright lies (I only visited news sites on my Windows computer and I still got viruses). The best ones are those who decry the “so called experts” as not knowing what they are talking about.

If there is anything I have learned over the years, there is not point in arguing this with anyone. Ever. It’s practically religion and if nerds could get over their aversion to sunlight, there would be holy wars over it.

So stay tuned next week for CNet’s next article in the series, Kirk vs. Picard: The Experts Weigh In.
