Urban ruins

I’ve always had a thing for urban ruins. I guess it’s because I like history and I find the idea that one day our civilization may like that of the ancient Romans or Egyptians to be morbidly fascinating. The success of History Channel’s Life After People seems to mean that I am not alone in this.
Slate has a fascinating slide show of American ruins. Several of the shots are of the same building taken years apart.
This is a Live Journal of photographs taken in Prypiate, Ukraine in 2009. The city was abandoned after the Chernobyl explosion in 1986.
