Under a Gibbous Moon

Droid speed test and other sundries

by on Dec.05, 2009, under Technology

I got into a small argument recently on a CNET article about the speeds obtainable on the Verizon network. The person was obviously a fanboy since I never said anything about AT&T’s network, I merely commented upon the speeds that I had gotten.

He demanded to see proof and since the application creates a linkable screen shot, I obliged. Oddly enough, he then claimed that I was probably just a T-Mobile customer since the screenshot only lists the phone OS. Why I do not make it a habit of feeding trolls, I felt that I could get this blog post out of a full fledged picture, so here it is.

I will say that this is one of the fastest tests I have gotten. Most are in the 1.8 mb/s range, which, at least for me is more than adequate.

Since I was taking pictures of the phone, I figured I’d rip off the case and show some of the damage the phone received from its trip through the windshield

There is a small scratch on the screen that is difficult to see

From the damage, it apparently went skidding on its face. Good thing that the screen is slightly recessed.

The battery cover is MIA

Except for the batter cover, the back is pretty much undamaged. The case was slightly separated where the seem is on the side with the mini-USB port, but that snapped back together.

I’m still very happy with the phone.
