MPAA has City’s WiFi shut down
by James on Nov.12, 2009, under Rant
In a rather blatant fuck everyone move by the MPAA they got the city of Coshocton, Ohio to shut down their free municipal WiFi service after they were notified by the MPAA that someone had downloaded one pirated movie via the service. What’s worse, the city Commissioner, Gary Fischer, is OK with this:
It’s unfortunate that one person ruins it for those who use the service legitimately.
This service is only used by citizens of the town, local business, out of town visitors and the police department. So it couldn’t be that big of a deal.
I submit to Commissioner Gary Fischer, that next time there is a robbery in town that they just slam shut the city borders and not let anyone in or out, that’ll show the bastards.
