Waterloo has met its waterloo

On a recent trip, my wife called me needing to get directions for a side trip she was taking to see a friend. She had pulled off of I-69 in Indiana at a small town known as Waterloo. When I looked up the directions for her on Google Maps I could not figure out how she was so far off of her destination.

Trying to give me more detail she said that the sign for the next big city had been Ft. Wayne. I looked around the Ft. Wayne area and low and behold I found Waterloo. Now all I had to do was convince Google to give me directions from there. I figured that I would try looking up the zip code.

Apparently, my wife had pulled into such an obscure little town that other Waterloos were ranked higher on Google for a search of the town. Even being less lazy and typing in “zip code” only bumped them up a spot.

Using these results, I was able to get Google Maps to show the real location of Waterloo.
