Under a Gibbous Moon

The most expensive clerical error in history?

by on Oct.29, 2009, under News

PepsiCo had a 1.26 billion dollar judgment placed against it in Wisconsin earlier this week. Two men filed a lawsuit against the company claiming that PepsiCo had stolen their idea for selling purified bottled water. Apparently a secretary for PepsiCo’s legal department received the letter informing them of the lawsuit, but failed to do anything with it because “because she was so busy preparing for a board meeting.”

This gaffe could cost the company a sum approximately 20% of their annual profits. There’s not doing your job and then there’s not doing your job.
